Description
Chris Morphitis - Where To Go
Chris Morphitis' debut album was recorded in his suburban garden shed, and merges a love of Zimbabwean and Greek music with his intuitive passion for experimentalism. Drawing deep on the spirit of improvisation, Morphitis built the album up from recorded takes of complete live performances, the idea being to retain any imperfections and sense of spontaneity. Composer Gustavo Santaolalla, who pioneered the fusion of his Argentinian roots with rock, soul, African rhythms and Latin American folk, was a big influence on the
album. Morphitis was also drawn to Steve Reich’s ‘Electric Counterpoint’ - a piece of music he recorded and performed for his final recital at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
